Advice on dyslexia

So my boyfriend has dyslexia. when we first got together i didn’t know. I just had a feeling because he always ask me to read something like his mail, i didn’t want to flat out ask him. I was waiting on him to come to me when he was ready. He never told me, his mother did. His mother told me when he was diagnosed w/ it she was locked up, so he never got the help he needed. She said the teachers was always reading his work to him & basically baby him all through school. My boyfriend is smart, That’s just his flaw when it come to read & write. Multiple choice questions he can passed but like fill in the blank he struggle w/. It might take the average person 10 mins to fill out random questionnaire but with him maybe 30 mins to an hour. Im very patient with him but i just wanna know, how can i help him improve without making him feel like he’s embarrassed or just can’t do it.
