Suggestions?

My s/o and i recently had our first born and i would love to have some advice to help her. Our baby is beautiful and perfect but during the pushing part of her labor, she had a second degree tear in her vagina and she is still in pain everytime she is either mobile, or using the restrooms. I was wondering if there are any rememdies or suggestions i could use?

Witch hazel pads. Take care of as much as possible to help her rest, like taking care of meals and house chores unless she wants to

A sitz bath can help. Also make sure to use dermoplast spray (the blue one) and alternate between that and hydrocortisone cream (never together). It will help soothe and keep itching down. Warm water with witch hazel in a squirt bottle to rinse after bathroom helps you feel fresher too.

Has she spoken to the doctor about it? I didn’t tear during labor so I essentially didn’t have much of a recovery and didn’t need to use anything to heal so maybe other ladies know some products but I’ve heard of Dermoplast, witch hazel, google DIY padsickles. I’m not sure how many weeks pp she is but maybe check with her doctor and see if it’s normal to still be that sensitive.

I don’t know what her doctor said, but many suggest using a sitz bath. You can also make padscicles, which there are recipes for online and on Pinterest. Unfortunately, if your baby is really new, you sometimes just have to let things heal. Make sure she can rest. Take extra shifts with the baby if you can. There is a numbing spray that you can use on the perineum (you buy it at a regular pharmacy), but I haven’t ever personally used it. I would also suggest getting her a stool softener if she hasn’t started taking one yet. Good luck! 💜
