To young to get married?

Question

Me and my SO have been best friends for over 3 years now and have been together for 1 year and 3 months and we are engaged to be married when I turn 18 and graduate high school. Is that to young to be married?

My husband and I have been together since I was 15, we got married a few weeks after I turned 18, have been married for over a year, and are expecting our first little one. We couldn't be happier, and we are happy to say we beat the odds (young when we got together and separated by the military for over 2 1/2 years).

That's awesome!!!! You go girl! You don't have to live with him to know it's right. If you trust him and want to be with only him forever then go for it! I was 18 when I got married, and I'm SUPER happy :) just do what makes you happy girly!

For me, it has nothing to do with age. It has everything to do with:
• dedication to each other and making it work FOREVER
• willingness to communicate 
• willingness/desire to grow with you in every aspect
• understanding that marriage isn’t going to be lust, happiness, sex, and a breeze - it’s going to include times when you could smack the fuck out of your SO in frustration but you CHOOSE to love them
• being there for the ups AND downs
• the reality that you won’t always agree on each other’s viewpoints but if someone is hurt, it doesn’t matter who is “wrong” but that you work together to fix the issue
• openness to therapy if things get too tough ; the viewpoint that you two would do anything to make it work with each other, even if it’s as horrible as shoving your biggest fears, mistakes, and shameful words/actions into the face of a licensed professional and being told that you’re in the wrong/not reacting in a healthy way
• the choice, every day, to make sure each of you feels seen, heard, important, and loved
My husband and I have been married for 4 years this coming June. Been together since 2014. I had just turned 21 when we got married. We almost divorced around Nov/Dec 2019 bc we lost the intimacy and closeness in our marriage and lost a baby in Sept 2019. We always said we’d NEVER do counseling. But it was counseling or losing each other, so we did. Marriage counseling saved us and has changed so much for the better. I always swore my hubby was the problem but I was refusing to accept any wrongdoing (he was too in some instances) and it was me vs him, rather than *us* vs the issues we were facing. 
Age has nothing to do with any of this. It’s choice and hard work.

I'm 18 and my boyfriend is going to be 21 in two months. I'll be getting married young too. We talk about getting engaged before 2017 all the time and I'm so excited. Im from the south so it's completely normal here for someone right out of high school to get engaged/married.

My husband and I were 20 and 21 when we got married,  not much older than you. I have friends who got married at 18. Honestly it isn't about age or how long you've been together as long as both of you are ready to make a lifelong commitment. A week after meeting my husband I just knew he was the one and we got married just a little over a year later. My grandparents got engaged after only knowing each other for a month and they just Celebrated their 51st anniversary. It's not about age. It's about staying committed even through times where you might not necessarily want to. Marriage is a big leap and it's definitely challenging, but it's totally worth it. However you need to keep in mind that this means growing up. Just be prepared to be mature. Congrats!

How old is he? If he's 18 as well, generally speaking, he isn't ready. You may be, but boys mature slower mentally than girls do. I could be wrong and I hope I am! I wish you guys the best either way!

I'll agree with the comment below. It's not about the actual age but it is about the maturity level of the both of you. There really should be no rush to get married at your age. If y'all are ready for that kind of commitment I would also suggest living together for at least a year and make sure y'all are still happy and in love.
