We had to write a poem in class last year, thought I’d share
So, in English last year, everyone in class wrote a poem and read it out loud. I just thought I’d share it and see people’s thoughts! Plus, I saw someone else on here share their haiku, which inspired me to share this! For reference, I called it Scars not Shown.
We all view each other as perfect or flawed,
But on the inside,
We are all the same.
On the inside we are all scarred.
But some scars may show more than others.
Some of us may have physical scars.
Scars from physical pain.
Accidents, self harm, near death, but still scars.
Others, like myself, have mental scarring.
I was cut deep by divorce.
From death in my family,
From feeling neglected.
These mental scars rip me apart sometimes,
And they did when they first cut me.
Sometimes these scars make me feel weak.
But those remnants of trauma have taught me.
They taught me to let these scars be a part of my story.
My life.
Because they-
They are the scars not shown.
So, yeah, I know that got a little depressing, but I’ll take any feedback you all want to give! Thanks for reading!
