Dog ate tampon😨

So I was using the restroom earlier and I had taken out my tampon to put in a new one i wrapped it up with the new tampon wrapper and threw it in the trash. There wasn’t toilet paper when I looked so I ran to another room to get some. In the short time my dog went into the restroom dug in the trash and started eating the tampon. Should I be worried and take him to he vet or just let it pass through him. I came on here because I was getting mixed information online.
