Update

M.

Earlier this week I posted about our baby girl being born on Christmas eve via csection due to my placenta tearing away from my uterus and pooling blood. Here’s the update a lot of people wanted:

We chose the name Alma which is Spanish for soul and means kind and nurturing spirit. 💛

She’s still in the NICU and will be for a couple weeks they suspect. She is hooked up to a CPAP, being fed through a tube in her mouth and an IV, and she’s getting a bit better at lowering her heart rate and breathing a bit slower with the help of the machines. They said she slept a lot more soundly last night. :)

I got to do skin to skin yesterday for about 45 min and it was so great to finally hold my daughter. My husband got to do it this morning for an hour also and she was so calm the whole time and her stats on the monitors were really steady as well. We also get to change her diaper whenever we are there at her care times and she is a poop machine 😂

We took a family photo today (I can’t believe I didn’t think of it her first day but things were really hectic and touch and go). And just a few other snap shots for fun.

Thank you to everyone in this group for your positivity and encouragement. I can’t wait to see all your babies in the next month or so!
