Spotting

Help! My Husband and I have been TTC for several months. I have had unusual spotting between a couple of periods. The last time was a few months ago and it was a brownish pinkish color (Sorry TMI). Anyways, the last time it happened I got excited thinking it was implantation bleeding but then about a week later I started my period. Now it has happened again, but more distinct this time. I have an OB appointment next week, but I was hoping someone may have had similar symptoms??
