thoughts about friends and jealousy?

If you’re in a relationship and have an always single friend, if you thought, or found out, or they told you they were jealous of you, how would you feel?

I think a little jealousy is normal. She probably just sees you happy and wants that for herself. We all get jealous over one thing or another but that’s life. I think if she told you it’s definitely not in a mean way. Maybe it’s just her way of saying she’s maybe lonely and wants that kinda relationship with someone too. Maybe try and spend some time with her and go shopping or something.

Maybe she sees your relationship and wants something like that for herself. Maybe try and set her up with a cutie, or make a girls night where you can try and scope out some potential boyfriends? Reassure her its normal to be a little jealous sometimes, and its sweet that she admitted that to you. Maybe it was a small call for help because she doesnt know how to get into a relationship or struggling with a rough past relationship ? Try finding ways you can help your friend ! She wants to be happy too!

My friend was like this for a long time until she wised up to the fact that relationships do not equal everything being okay and happy. I dont necessarily understand how this mentality occurs but I've met quite a few people who honestly believe getting into relationships will magically fix their life. I think it honestly has something to do with feeling extremely lonely. And for my best friend she was surrounded by couples and yet was barely asked out herself so she felt as if she wasnt good enough to be wanted by anyone which amplified her loneliness. It didnt help she grew up socially stunted due to being a dual language learner. I think it's best to encourage your friend and talk to her about how shes feeling. Find out what makes her think that way and try to help her see that she is a wonderful person all on her own. Maybe text her a bit more. It means a lot to get a text from someone because they're randomly thinking of you.

I am the single friend. I’ve been single 6 years and I can honestly I’m not jealous of any of my friends relationships. Sometimes I feel like I’m a therapist for them and I’m definitely glad I don’t have partners like some of theirs. I don’t know how they put up with some of the things they do.
If you have a friend who is jealous it might be best to cut them off. A true friend is happy for your happiness and supports you when your down.
