Withdrawal bleeding ... is it necessary?

Hi lovely ladies! I was on birth control ever since I had my son on june’2016. But I had my last pill on Dec 27th and my last day of AF was Dec 25th. We want to try for baby #2 and my gynecologist asked me to finish my last pack of BC after that I will have withdrawal bleeding and than we can start planning. My question - Is it necessary to have withdrawal bleeding if yes - I haven’t had mine yet. I planning to wait until my next AF monthly cycle to make an appointment with my gynecologist.

Did any of you lovely ladies got there BFP without the withdrawal bleeding?
