crush advice

i’ve had this crush on someone since freshman year(i’m a junior), and i loved hanging out with them until my best friend told me she had a crush on him, so i backed off. I still very dearly love being around him, but have been respecting my friend’s feelings. He makes me smile, but i still feel v awkward about everything. I know she would probably never date him, but still conflicted. I don’t want to have any regrets about noting shooting your shot, but also would never want to loose a good friend. So I guess this post is kinda like- do i talk to her about it/how to get over a crush and just be friends kinda search. (also, if she says she is over it, i feel like she could be lying-tips?) thank you guys💕
