Relactating after months. Tips?

My son is 4 months old. I breastfed at first untill he lost some weight because I wasn't waking him up to feed. My WIC office made me feel so bad that I gave into formula. I have not stopped producing. I gave away EVERYTHING to do with breast feeding. So now I have to start all over. I tried to latch today. It went ok he tried to latch but didn't quite get there. I had just fed him a bottle. And I hand expressed into a syringe and gave him a taste before I tried to latch then expressed some drops into his mouth. Any tips would be helpful.

I really think you can get back to it. I would really recommend finding a lactation consultant. Mine helped me more than I could ever put into words but through fully it really is the simplest of nature’s designs: the more you latch your son, the more your body will produce.

I don't have direct experience, but I do know that it is very possible to start breastfeeding again after a break! I was reading about it in a pamphlet from the World Health Organization. They said it's really important that you are consistent, persistent, and have confidence to know that you are capable of feeding your baby yourself! It might take time but keep trying several times a day and he'll probably catch on
