Csection or natural birth?

Question

I’m pregnant with my first child and i can’t wait till I meet my little one. But I’m the weakest person you’ll ever meet in your life, I can’t handle brazilian wax without a strong numbing cream lol. I simple just cannot tolerate pain.
Which made me feel like maybe csection might be easier since I’ll be drugged. I know with natural birth you can get the epidural injection but I heard some horror stories about it like how it’s more painful than giving birth, and if they gave it to you wrong might affect your ability to walk and you might be disabled (it actually happened to a woman that I know)
So mommies out there if you have done both which procedure did you prefer? or if you’re like me and you cannot tolerate pain how did your experience go?

A large majority of OBs/hospitals do not let you choose a c section they are most times only done if medically necessary because they are much riskier than natural and a way longer and painful recovery. I had a epidural and didn’t feel a thing except for pressure when it was time to push it was wonderful. Btw I’m a labor and delivery nurse and have been for a long time and have never seen a patient have a serious complication from a epidural. And even with a c section you get a spinal so either way you’re getting something in your back.

I have had 4 natural births and 1 c-section. By and far I would have 50 natural births over a c-section any day of the week. The recovery time on a c-section is 6-8 weeks, it's major surgery. You can't drive, can't lift, can hardly walk, bending hurts, can't even vacuum! It's a huge PITA. There are a whole host of complications that can come from having a c-section - loss of stomach muscle tone, weakened core muscles, nerve damage (my c-section was 13 years ago and I still have numbness above my section scar)
It boggles my mind how and why someone could choose to have major surgery and put themselves through such a seriously intensive recovery period over and above doing what their body is designed to do.
My section was necessary due to my twins both being in breach presentation - however all through my pregnancy right up until 35 weeks I had planned a natural birth with them.

I wasn’t even able to feel when they put the epidural in. I felt what felt like a little pinch and that was it.

Getting the IV hurts more than the epidural lol it just feels like a small pinch. Natural birth was 100% easier and less painful than everyone told me it would be. It’s really not that bad. My contractions felt like my bad period cramps, then after the epidural I hardly felt a thing, pushing felt like I was pooping lol.

They numb you the same place for a csection, the recovery is a lot longer on a csection too.

So I have a very low pain threshold. Like very low pain tolerance. I have given birth naturally twice. The first time I did have 1/2 the regular dosage of nubain (sp?) But it was towards the end and I was hyperventalating which became unsafe for baby. It helped to relax me. I highly recommend some sort of classes to help prepare you for the birthing experience and, if you can, hire a doula. I'm trying hypnobabies this time. C-sections are extremely hard to recover from pain wise (my mom had 3, 1 emergency and 2 elective). Remember that your body was legitimately made to do this and once you are there it is going to happen. See if you can labor in the tub which helps a lot with pain. There are other things you can do too but I promise you can do this. Epidurals also freak me out so I get that 100%. Hugs lady. You've got this!!

Natural birth lasts for hours. The pain and recovery from csection lasts weeks. I was too scared of surgery to go with the csection option and have never regretted my choice. Could be up and moving around without pain shortly after giving birth naturally. That being said, do what feels right for you. There is no shame in any way you decide to birth your child. C-sections are major abdominal surgery. Most doctors will not let you have an elective c-section. They’re also more painful and difficult  to recover from, and you have weight limits for a significant amount of time. Epidurals work wonders for a lot of women. I felt very little my whole labor after I got the epidural (including pushing), but labor progressed fine, and I didn’t push any longer than the average amount of time. It may not be that way for everyone, but there are a lot of interventions that will help with the pain that don’t require a c-section.

Have your baby vaginal if you can. I had a emergency c-section it’s not any easier than a vaginal birth in recovery time is longer and my pain was worse. you have the same pain meds in the same spot with an epidural whether you have vaginal delivery or c-section. I honestly thought a regular shot was worse than getting an epidural.
