True contractions?

Question

I have been having period like cramping for several hours now that are consistent. I’m also having pain in my back and hips. I went to the restroom and when I wiped there was a bit of blood on the toilet paper (not a lot) 
I have been drinking a ton of water and changing positions but they are still coming. I feel ignorant about this since this is my 2nd child but I don’t want to go to the hospital when I have an appt in a few hours.

They are less than 5 mins apart. Probably worth going to get checked. Sounds to me like you are in the beginning of onset labor.

I decided to stick it out until my appt this morning. Around 530 this morning they started to slow down so I tried to fall asleep for 2 hours before having to get my son up for school but got woken up by the contractions. Decided I better get a shower before my son wakes up to be prepared to go. Hoping to get more info from my DR soon. Thanks ladies!

They could be Braxton Hicks still. I was told to follow the 5-1-1 rule. Lasting 1 full minute, every 5 minutes, for at least 1 hour. Everyone labors differently so if that sounds about right I would get checked out, or wait until appointment if it’s soon. Also, I was told if they’re not intensifying it could be Braxton Hicks. Just what I’ve been told, though. I haven’t labored yet 😅.
