Sexuality?

Hi! I’m a 16 year old junior in high school and I wanna ask you all something. I’m now at the age where I could start dating but the thing is that I kinda don’t want to. Like I don’t wanna be or I can’t see myself in a relationship with anyone, male or female. Is this a sign that I’m having like an asexual thing going on?

It can be but you aren't required to be sex crazed about anyone of any gender. It could just mean you need more time to figure out what you want or what you are interested in doing as far as that goes.

It COULD be. (I’d say aromantic is more likely than asexual, but it’s definitely possible to be both.) You may just not be ready, or you may be ace/aro. You should also know that ace and aro exist on a spectrum, and there are many identities that fall on that spectrum without being 100% all or nothing. (I identify as grey-asexual, for example, and for years I identified as demiromantic, but that changed recently.)
And that brings me to my next point: Your identity may change! And that’s allowed! If you find it helpful to use that label to describe yourself now, that is 100% okay. And if, in a few years, you decide that label doesn’t fit you anymore, or you’ve found something else that fits you better, that’s also 100% okay. Changing your label later on in life will NEVER invalidate your current (past) feelings; if it helped you at one point in time, then that is a Good Thing, even if you change and grow and decide it’s not helping you anymore. I personally didn’t let myself start using the label “asexual” for TWO YEARS after discovering it and feeling connected to it (at 14), because I was afraid I would grow into something else. But I finally decided (at 16) that it was worth it to just use it for the time being. I don’t identify as fully asexual anymore, but I’m still really grateful that I had that label to identify with in that time of my life, because it definitely helped me then, and I know that it was still valid even though it ended up changing.

It sound more like Aromantic than asexual. But Aromantic just means not wanting or desire to have any romantic relationship with anyone.

yeah totally! there's also something called aromanticism, which is totally valid. it doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand with asexuality, but it does a lot of the time. being aromantic means to not feel romantic attraction (and asexual = no sexual attraction of course lol). feel free to identify however you want, because both gender and sexuality are fluid and one label doesn't always mean you'll stick with that. what i'm saying is, don't feel pressured to "Label Yourself" forever at 16 lol!

Trust me, it’s not weird and you don’t have to be asexual to not wanna date someone right at this moment. Especially in high school when everyone is dumb 🙄 you may find someone later, you may never want to. I’d say wait and see
