Breastfeeding?

Are any mamas still nursing their toddler? My bub has been exclusively BF until about 1 years old we added whole milk but he still nurses for nap time and bedtime but since I found out baby #2 is coming he wants to nurse all day and night! Has anyone else experienced this? I try giving him snacks or whole milk when he tries but sometimes he still goes for it 😩 I know it’s comforting for him but my nipples can’t day all day feeding

My daughter turned 2 in Nov and I found how I was pregnant with babe #2 in August. We didn't nurse for sleep or at night anymore but during the day I pretty much nursed on demand. Some days it was very little and other a lot! I started with the "don't offer and don't refuse", I offered snacks or delayed it by starting laundry, going pee. I offered playing instead. A big one for us was me sitting on the couch. So instead I tried to sit in other places. When I hit 18 weeks I must have dried up because even if she did nurse it was 2 seconds. We've also started talking a lot about how "Mama milk is all gone and later baby sister will need it to be big and strong like you". She gets this now. She points and says "milk alllll gone, baby sister! Lila big sister." We didn't have any tears and it happened gradually. We're pretty much weaned except she got sick around Christmas and wanted to nurse extra. I allowed it and she's back to not wanting it. Not sure if any of this helps but you got it! And congratulations on babe #2!!!

When I found out I was pregnant, my son was about 20m and I stopped his night nursings. It started getting painful and I just had to start getting him ready for baby. He still nurses about once a day, usually to sleep. He’s 26m now.

That sounds just like us when I found out I was pregnant back in August. He was nursing around the clock suddenly! He was also only going down for naps and bedtime with nursing. I figured my supply would eventually start tanking and I'd just follow his lead. It actually made me really sad to think of weaning him. I'm 23 weeks now and if say about 2-3 weeks ago I pretty much dried up. He still wanted to nurse several times a day, but the dry nursing got painful. I decided I couldn't continue nursing him to sleep, so I started cuddling and rocking him. After a couple days, he stopped asking to nurse at nap and bedtime, and he'll usually fall asleep within 30 minutes of cuddling or rocking. Surprisingly he also isn't waking up at night asking to nurse anymore (he sleeps on a floor bed next to our bed, which we'll probably move to his own room before baby comes).
He nurses (dry nurses) probably once or twice a day still, but some days not at all. He knows it's all gone and evens says it's all gone, but sometimes it still really upsets him and the distractions don't work.
Hang in there mama! You can either follow your toddler's cues or make your own decisions about weaning. Either way, your toddler will adjust and you have to find what you're comfortable with ❤️

Just weaned my son this week! Oh man, about 10-12 hours straight hysterical crying and about 6 hours of sleep in 2 days.. But now he's golden. We are weaned! Our breastfeeding schedule was several times during bedtime, 2x during a nap and once between that and bed. So all that to noting in a few days.

This is him about a month ago at the doctors.
