Wrap or ring sling?

Question

So my little one is due in 2 weeks and there is just few things I'm missing.. I was thinking it would be great to use wrap or sling, but I'm not sure which one is better? Wrap looks quite complicated to put on but the ring sling doesn't look like there is that much support.. Any of you have an experience with either of them? And what brand is the best? Thanks:-)

I loved my ring sling when my son was little. He was born at 5lb 3oz and I could wear from day one. You can newborns in them so nice and snug. The tail of the ring sling can be twisted and tucked under the top of the rail to give better head support until they are able to hold up their own. I cannot wait to wear my little girl come February!

My plan is to start using a fixed sling in my size. Small enough that I can breastfeed in it after a couple of weeks.

Then when the baby is a couple of months old I will start using my long wrap sling in woven fabric. No Jersey that can stretch while using. I can carry my baby both on front and back with the shawl. I have a Diodymos Ellipses wrap sling I bought for my last I will use again.

I will switch to a baby carrier when the baby is walking. Then they want up and down and up and down constantly so a carrier like Ergo or in my case one I made is perfect.

I will probably use all three at different times as the baby grows. The fixed size sling is great to have in the stroller as it's very small and can be used up to about three years old at lest min children started being to heavy then. The long wrap sling will be used a long time when I have a sick child at home, it gives such closeness and comfort.

Try some different types and find what works for you.

Tula you'll be a lot happier with that kind of carrier as you can back carry as well. Certain wraps can only be used for so long and can be uncomfortable, ring slings aren't always the best either.

Wraps are complicated. Sakura Bloom ring slings are well worth the money (eBay usually has moms selling). They're simple, quick and it's amazing how well it supports and distributes the weight. They also have a single layer & a double layer depending on how much support you want. I love mine. Definitely recommend.

I just got a ergo carrier with infant insert and it is so comfortable. Best part is it can be worn 4 different ways and has a back support which is great when baby gets heavier. I wish I would have gotten one with my first!
