My sons birth story 12/23/18

Ok so this is our last baby and luckily it was a boy! After 2 girls, our boy finally decided to show up.

So I was due on December 23rd and figured that was close enough to Christmas as I wanted it. I’ve heard different sides of what it’s like to be born on or close to Christmas so I figured the 23rd was good enough. So my doctors office used to not induce until 41 weeks but I guess new studies have shown no increase of risks if induced at 39 weeks. My husband wanted me to wait it out and have him come on his own but we came to an agreement that we’d induce on the 22nd which was great! I didn’t want to spend Christmas in the hospital while my girls were stuck at home. SO...

Every appointment each week I was not dilating. I was getting super bummed that I wasn’t progressing, especially since it was my third baby!

So since I wasn’t progressing I spent the night on the 21st to do the balloon to dilate me. Instead we did the gel, which didn’t do much really. So we spent the night and decided to try the pill before the balloon because it hurt A TON to get up to my cervix. Like really bad. So we did the pill and that seemed to get things going but still wasn’t dilating. So by 4:30pm on the 22nd, I decided to go home instead of hoping I’ll dilate by sitting in a hospital bed. They were going to send me home anyways by like 9..( but I should have stayed)

So we get back home and for the next 5 hours contractions were just getting worse and worse. I was DYING! So we get back to the hospital and had already being there for the last day and a half I was really sore from being checked so many times.

Finally a nurse said I was at like a 2 and put me in a jacuzzi to see if I’d dilate anymore which it did help! I got back to the room and baby just wasn’t liking the contractions at all so I had to get on my hands and knees, totally awkward. Got checked and was at a 4!

YAY EPIDURAL TIME!

Got my sweet back candy and I was numbed up!

And let me tell you, these contractions were killer. I’ve never had them that painful.

But it seemed like once I got to a 10 and ready to push, my contractions started spacing further apart.. which was weird! So as I’m laying there, legs apart waiting in between each push I didn’t know what kind of conversation to have haha

But I think I only pushed for 30 minutes maybe? And BOOM THERES A BABY!

Literally so happy to be done being pregnant.
