Any tips for new cat parents

My husband and I are planning to adopt 2 cats this week, and this will be the first time we've had animals as adults. We both grew up with cats, so we know a little bit about caring for them... but we want to be prepared!

What do we need? We have a litter box, some food, and a string toy so far.

What should we prepare for?

Any tips?

We are adopting a pair (if no one else adopts them first!) because we know we want 2, and would prefer a pair of cats that already love each other and don't want to be split up.

We are so excited, but feel like we're forgetting everything!
