Visitors while in the hospital

Whitney

So both my husband and my families live out of state and we have no one within a 2 hour flight of us. I actually haven’t lived near family since I graduated college 7 years Ago. Fast forward to last night at dinner, my sister is in town to help prep for the baby shower next Saturday. We began talking about when the baby comes ( I’m having a scheduled C-Section at the end of Feb) and I told her that we decided we want the first few days to ourselves to adjust to being new parents, we don’t mind people stopping by for an hour or so at the hospital and then leaving but that’s about it.

Considering all of our family is out of state and would more than likely stay with us if they came down we thought it would be fine to ask them to wait at least a week before coming down. That way we are out of the hospital and somewhat settled back home.

Well they didn’t go over well... apparently my mom was expecting to be at the hospital the whole time... and go home with us.

I didn’t think there was anything wrong wanting to settle back into my home with the baby and it just be the 3 for a while. I know it will be tough but we have to learn right? Am I being wrong?
