I have my ultrasound Thursday to see how many follicles I have. Some people on here say when they take your eggs out they had extreme bloating and had to have surgury. This is really starting to scare me. How common is OHSS?

I've never heard of anyone having surgery due to ohss. Draining, yes, not directly surgery, altho I know it does happen to some.
Retrieval is a surgery by itself tho.
Thing is, most of the medicine shots we use for ivf are made to cause a small case of ohss, because they have to mature more eggs than is normal for your body. The diagnose itself is sort of for the unlucky cases were theres been a bit too much. 
Ohss happens mostly when you have LOADS of follicles and some women's body refill the follicles after retrieval, where most of them are about 2cm each already, so it just takes your body some time to get rid of it, and most clinics decide to make it a full freeze cycle.
I had mild to medium ohss after 22 eggs out, I could barely move due to discomfort, I'm really tiny to begin with so I was double my normal size, and I was fine after a week of couch-service at home.
It's not common to have ohss to the point you need help. But your clinic will warn you about the signs if you're in the danger zone. I've heard of one woman having to be drained of water in her ovaries, and that was because the clinic made a transfer when they really shouldn't and she became pregnant. 
Hcg inscreases ohss over time so that's why my cycle was a full freeze cycle with all those eggs out.
I've heard of very few cases of ohss where women have had a few amount of eggs, but it does happen sometimes.
As long as your clinic isn't afraid about it, don't spend your time worrying, loads of these meds are dosaged according to weight and AMH or started off at low levels to make sure you won't go through it.

I just want to say, that if one of my posts was something that scared you, I am sorry. It seems to me that OHSS is a more common thing, but my case was severe. The thing with my egg retrieval is that not all of my follicles were drained because apparently I was “moving a lot”.. because of this, my ovaries became enlarged and formed adhesions with my intestines/abdominal wall.. this is REALLY rare. It was rough there for a bit, but I am all fixed up now. If you have concerns, talk to your doctor but please don’t let anything said in this app scare you.

Hi babe! Stay hydrated! I was worried about it and am naturally more dehydrated so my nurse had me drink a lot of electrolyte drinks. I was supposed to drink 2-4 liters a day of pedialyte, coconut water, Gatorade, Powerade, and regular water. I would check in with your nurse or doctor about your concerns and see if they have any advice or tips. When my estrogen started getting high my nurse had me up the drinks and eat salty high sodium foods AFTER my egg retrieval. My clinic triggered me with Lupron and a low dose of pregnyl (Lupron helps prevent ohss from occurring ). I am so grateful I didn’t get it! Just had some standard cramping and pain. Some women do and some women don’t. It took me about two week afterwards to start feeling better they prescribed me medicine to treat mine. But my friend that went after me was back to her normal self after a day or two after her retrieval .

I know the egg retrieval is like a surgery but they said I will be asleep for that so Im not worried lol. If I have enough follicles they wont make my body make more or do they still have too? Also Im glad Ill get meds to reduce the bloating. I have never had to go to a hospital so I was freaking out.

Start drinking extra water and coconut water before ER.  You will feel bloated and not want to bring much but do it and after the ER I was told to not drink regular water.   Only drink Gatorade and coconut water.    
Severe OHSS is rare so don’t over-stress yourself about it.

I had OHSS, I felt about four to five months pregnant and was kind of miserable for about a week but then it went away by itself. OHSS bad enough to cause a hospital stay is very rare, I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
