Body shaming those who have had plastic surgery.

E.

Do you feel that it is socially acceptable to body shame those who have had plastic surgery?

As a culture we have moved towards body positivity and acceptance of all body shapes/sizes which is great. But I’ve noticed many of my “body positive” Facebook friends still shaming those who have had plastic surgery. I.e. “her breasts are so fake and ridiculous looking,” “breast implants are disgusting,” “her lips are so overdone and huge” etc.

Clearly people who get plastic surgery did so because they were self conscious and/or wanted to increase their confidence, so to comment on something about their appearance that can’t easily be changed without spending thousands more dollars is uncalled for. Yet it still seems to happen so commonly in this “body positive” culture. It seems that acceptance of all bodies seems to apply only to those who haven’t had plastic surgery?

Thoughts? Do you think this is appropriate?
