How to know if you are anemic?

So my friend has anemia and I was just wondering how someone would know/ find out they are anemic? Does it show up in blood tests?
*ive had lots of blood tests done before so would I have been informed if I would have it?

They would see it on a blood test. If you had it, they would have told you

You can feel it, like you have no energy, yet cold easily, bruise daily and apparently even poor hair condition is linked to it.
It would also show up in blood tests if they tested for it. If they tested for something specific and didn't do a general blood test then that's a different story.

for sure a blood test with hemoglobin less than 12

Its shown in a blood test. I always could tell before the test was taken. I'd start bruising really easily again and my energy would be drained. And if it was really bad I'd start craving ice.
