Is she really telling the truth

So my best friend is a junior in highschool and I am a freshman in college. We used to talk and see each other everyday. Now we don’t and I’ve noticed that we aren’t very close rn and I don’t like it because to me bestfriends know everything about each other and I feel like I don’t know her anymore. I asked her about it and she said she wanted to be closer and didn’t want to not have me in her life. But I haven’t seen her try to step out and be closer. I’m going thru a lot personally and I don’t feel like she is there for me. I don’t want to lose her but now I keep thinking is this really a good time to be friends. I feel like we are drifting and I can’t be putting all this effort in and getting barley anything back anymore. I need some help I can’t tell if she really wants to get closer or she just said it to say it and doesn’t want to be close anymore.
