Boyfriend Obsessive or Not? *update*

First a bit of background. We’ve been dating for over a year now and we’re planning on getting married, he has already bought the ring but he hasn’t proposed yet. He has called 15 times in a row before because he flipped out for no reason (literally, I asked). I am not a morning person and he knows this I also go to bed at 9:00pm at the latest every night. He repeats questions I answered 2 minutes before and he never listens to what I say. (He does say he’s trying to work on that) Last night we were watching a show together (over FaceTime because it’s a long distance relationship) and it finished. He fell asleep halfway through and so i said goodnight and i love you and hung up. He woke up more than an hour later after I was already asleep (he knew i was going to bed once the episode was done) he proceeded to call till i woke up and texted a couple times. I called him and we said good night over the phone before my first text to him. He is 24 years old.

Whenever there is a slight inconvenience or bump in the road with our relationship, he asks if we should break up or like he said here “if you loved me” kind of thing.

I just need some advice from you ladies. I love this man to death and i have tried to work with him but idk what to do anymore...

*UPDATE*

He texted me 16 times in a row. (I was not ignoring him, i was at the Judo Center training, and wasn’t allowed to have my phone)

My next text was saying how obsessive 16 texts are and now he hasn’t responded since. I always call him when I have the time, but it is apparently not enough. I was never clingy, I’m kind of a stand offish person, i like to watch things, see what happens, then get involved kind of a person. Also the past couple days I haven’t been ignoring him, it’s been finals week for me so I’ve been studying non stop and testing.
