At 32w3d, I was having some mild cramps. Without hesitation, I contacted my Midwife, who told me to come in so she could hook me up to the fetal monitor. After a good 20 minutes, the machine showed that I was having contractions. Midwife sent me for an ultrasound that showed I was already “funneling” and the length of my cervix was 2.97, so I was sent to the hospital to get 2 steroid shots to strengthen her lungs in case she decides to come early; 1 on Friday and the 2nd on Saturday (24 hours in between). Fast forward to 33w4d, I’m still having cramps, I go back to the doctors, Midwife does an exam, I’m dilated to 1cm, so she puts me on medication to stop labor/contractions until I’m 35 weeks.
Luckily, she’s decided to stay in, because tomorrow I’m 35 weeks. My last dose of the medication is tonight. What’s everyone else’s experience with how soon you went into labor after the last dose of medication?
A few things to add:
- I still get mild cramps (feels like period cramps) every day- just not consistently. Water hasn’t broke & mucus plug has not come out.
- I was placed on “modified bedrest”. I’m a Detroit Police Officer, who since finding out I was pregnant, came off patrol and went to desk duty. So luckily, I’m just pushing papers, not doing much else for the time being.
- Baby girl is super healthy. She’s in the 55th percentile and weighs just over 5lbs.
- No complications throughout my entire pregnancy. No high blood pressure, no gestational diabetes, etc.
- I was born 4.5 weeks early and weighed 5lbs. and my husband was 3.5 weeks early.
