How many clothes have you bought for baby??

Question

FTM here and wondering how many items of clothing in each size do I need? So I know I need short sleeve vests, sleep suits, a few outfits for going out in, socks, mittens, hats...anything else? And also what sizes and how many?
Any help would be amazing! I don’t want to over/under buy things and want to be prepared!

I’ve bought just a handful of cute things I’ve seen on clearance but we are waiting til our shower to see what we will need to supplement

We haven’t bought many actual outfits (maybe 2?) but we’ve got about 25 sleepsuits and 25 vests and lots of cardigans. Judging from advice from friends/family it’s the comfiest for them and what they’ll wear for the first few months!

If you’re planning on having a baby shower don’t buy to many clothes. I did this and had more clothes than my son could wear lol.

We’ve bought some simple outfits since baby will be here in spring & summer time where we live is so hot🔥 BUT baby girl got a bunch of gifts for Xmas, we literally have a box full of clothes/toys/books most are 3-6 months & some 12 month😳😧 she has so much already I’m afraid she won’t wear most of it more than once && I still have 2 baby showers...I have a feeling she’s going to have way too much clothes 😱

I’ve brought cute items when they’ve been on sale. Been getting a few newborn, 0-3 months, 6-9months and even 9-12 months clothes so I’m stocked up

My first son is 19 months. He frequently stayed in sleepers. I didn’t see any need to dress him up to go run errands. I wouldn’t buy a ton before baby is born because you don’t know how big they’ll be or how fast they’ll grow.
I would get 5-10 onesies and pants/shorts depending on your weather and 5-10 sleepers in newborn or 0-3 months. 
Also, baby socks always fall off so I found them to be useless. I also don’t get why people get baby vests? I’ve seen lots of women comment about buying vests. Our first had a couple vests that came with outfit sets but I never sought them out.

For the person who asked. These are what us Americans call vests. They are dressy type shirts with no sleeves that go on top of longer sleeve shirts usually.

Uk people call these (below) vests. They are referred to as bodysuits or onesies in America
