Newborn sleep?! 🆘

Question

Is there a secret to getting your newborn to sleep somewhere besides in your arms?? Cause every time I lay her down she cries as soon as she wakes up and realizes she’s not being held! 
I don’t want to train her that crying means she will immediately be picked up but I also don’t want to ignore her cause she’s a tiny baby in a big brand new world 🤷🏼‍♀️😩
FTM (obviously) so looking for any an all sleep tips!

You said “I don’t want to train her that crying means she gets picked up” but I want to encourage you otherwise♥️ At this age, babies aren’t trying to manipulate you. The only way they can communicate is through crying. I WANT my baby to learn that I’ll immediately respond to her cries. I want to spend these early days developing trust and security with her. It’s not a bad thing for your baby to call for you and you answer her right away! You’re not spoiling her, or “training her” the wrong way - you’re securing your bond and establishing your baby’s trust in you. Read up on the 4th trimester - it was so encouraging to me when I was a FTM 💓
Things that can help when you need to put her down for a minute- swaddling her in one of your shirts (nothing more comforting than mamas scent!). Warming up her bassinet with a heating pad and moving it right before you lay her down. Placing rolled receiving blankets down by her legs to help her feel a little more snug. Figure out when she sleeps best (my girl sleeps well like 6 am - noon) and plan to try to lay her down through that time. Hope that helps mama! ♥️

Are you swaddling her when you put her down? If not, tightly swaddle baby.

I’ve read a lot of people say to swaddle really tight and put a shirt of yours or something that smells like you in the crib/ bassinet. goodluck xx

Read the book 12 hours sleep by 12 weeks old. It’s a goldmine!

I’d try swaddling. If that doesn’t work, make sure her tummy isn’t super firm because she may just have built up gas that makes her fussy when laying down (that just happened to our son). If that doesn’t work, white noise apps or even buy one of the baby shushers off of Amazon. I see a ton of people say nothing but good things about those.
