First Tattoo. Any advice?

Does anyone have a tattoo on their ribs? If so how bad does it hurt? I'm getting a tattoo in may of my grandmothers signature, who passed away in November. She was my biggest supporter and I want a way to have her with me everywhere I go. However, one day I hope to become an FBI agent so I do not want any tattoos visible or difficult to cover. Does anyone have any other advice? Thank you in advance

I have a high pain tolerance people say it hurts because of the bone but to me it makes no difference. Honestly depends on the size and the details, it only starts to hurt when they keep going over it. Simple tattoos feel like cat scratches I got my sternum and ribs done

I have my entire right ribcage onto my hips done, I personally dont think it hurt all that bad but iv heard from other people it was awful, so I suppose it just depends on your pain tolerance lol if its just a signature you’ll live for sure 👍🏻

Personally I didn't find it that painful but my friend said her ribs really hurt🤷 
My first tattoo didn't bother me at all, I was too distracted talking to my artist about random shit 😂 (he's totally used to it after many visits since then haha)

i honestly fell asleep when they did mine. on both sides. but i also have a higher pain tolerance 🤷🏼‍♀️
