Induced?

Question

Can you ask your doctor if you want to be induced? Or is it just if something is wrong. My husband comes home from korea when im 39 weeks, and i want him to spend as much time with our son as possible. Just curious to see if its even worth bringing it up to my midwife.

Most doctors won't unless medical reason. And really it's best for baby to come when baby is ready

Bring up the subject to your OB. They might be willing to induce at 39 weeks.

With my first I was 2 days over and I asked. I was induced two days later. Definitely going to try to avoid at all costs this time tho

Wondering the same thing, I'm 39 weeks today and my husband has a crazy work schedule and happens to have his vacation start the day I'm due. I'm hoping to ask for them to strip my membranes at my appointment tomorrow to hopefully insure his here before my husband starts his vacation. Best of luck to you I hope it works out for you!

My husband is stationed 14 hours away and my doc is going to induce me to hopefully guarantee him being here. He said the earliest he could do it would be 39 weeks unless there was a medical reason to do it before then seeing how insurance will not cover it.  Never hurts to ask just explain to your doctor why you want to be induced and maybe he will be agreeable to it.

Bring it up, but definitely research all the possible side effects. It can be pretty rough, among other things. 
It's a nice  impulse though.
