Cervix position/mucus

I dont often check my cervix but maybe I should. I did today and it's high and soft and "medium" open. I was reading that it should be closed except when ovulating and before your period. I'm a week away from both. I am 80% sure I ovulated on the 15th. I did check my cervix position on the 15th to confirm egg white mucus (it was so heavy that I was seeing it when I wiped) and it was almost the same as today. Except medium instead of high.

Any ideas why it's open today?
