Ok so backstory, my daughter was born 9/2017 at 36 + 3, so she was considered a “late term preemie”, no issues/complications, no NICU. Perfectly healthy. Fast forward, I’m 15 weeks with my second and because my daughter was technically early I was referred to high risk specialist. Saw the doctor today and she told me I can get weekly shots of progesterone; daily suppositories of progesterone OR bi-weekly internal sonograms to monitor my cervix (I.e. make sure it’s not shortening or softening), if any changes occur I would immediately get a stitch or two within my cervix and the shots would start right away, I’d no longer have any option on it.

Now here’s my confusion, at my 12 week sonogram my midwife opted to not do an internal exam as she didn’t want to go “poking around” and “upset” my body in any way. So if a regular internal exam was something she decided to hold back on wouldn’t bi-weekly internal sonograms be a bad idea as well? I’m obviously going to talk to my midwife before I make a final decision about anything but it all just seemed a little odd to me. The high risk doctor tried to tell me that my daughter was most likely born early because I walked just under 2 miles a day and my husband and I were having sex up until the baby was born (for reference, I was never told to stop either).

Does this sound right to anyone or should I be a little confused/concerned?

Thank you ladies!!
