Childs party announcement ?

Our sons 4th birthday party is this weekend. We haven't told anyone we are Prego again. Wanted to do it at his party, but I don't want to take the attention off my son. Would this be fair or not?

Edited: what if I say he is going to be a big brother instead of we are expecting or we are pregnant?

My sister announced at my nieces party, thought it was a cute idea until I saw her basically get pushed out of the picture..it was rather sad. Seems logical but not in the end I suppose.

Well hopefully your family would know better than to completely ignore the child on his birthday.  I don't see why it's a bad idea unless you think everyone will push him aside.

I probably wouldn't. If he were younger, he would be oblivious anyways, but right now he's probably old enough to see what people are more excited about and what people end up talking about. He also is aware that birthdays arent happening all the time and its a special day that hes the center of. It could definitely cause some hurt feelings and jealousy. Older kids already feel like they're losing so much when mom is pregnant or when the new baby comes.

I would do it another time, the day is meant to be about him and not your next child. I'm sure you'll find another better time to do it.
