How long is it good for?

I'm breastfeeding and I got a haakaa to save all of the would be wasted milk. Especially in the middle of the night, I keep falling asleep without putting the milk into the fridge; sometimes 30 minutes, others 3 hours. How long is it good for before I have to get it into the fridge. How long is too long and I have to trash it?

The lactation consultant I spoke to told me it was good for 4 hours after it was pumped without any ice packs and it can last up to 6 hours if you put it in a bag with ice packs after that you need to refrigerate it or freeze it. If you ever have any milk that goes bad don’t throw it out just use it for a milk bath or soap or even rash cream it’s better than just tossing it.
