How do I know how much weight I need to gain during pregnancy?

I started my pregnancy at 180lbs but due to food aversions and nausea I dropped 14lbs (through 9-15 wks). Then at 15wks I was at 174lbs, at 19wks I got up to 178lbs and yesterday at my 20weeks appointment I was 180lbs again.

Every time I go to my appointments with my OB I go up 2lbs. So, I was wondering how many pounds I need to get through all pregnancy and if that range is ok.

Your OB or midwife will help you with this question, also this app has a good overview of the weight gain you can expect if you regularly log your weight.

I’m 5’11 and 180 and was told to gain 30 but it’d be completely different for someone 5’5 and 180

Your OB should be able to tell you an accurate range, but mine wants me to gain 20-30 overall, 1 pound a week for the 2nd and 3rd trimester
