Litter box

So I'm nervous about changing my cats litter box. My husband and I talked about it and we thought it would be fine as long as I wash my hands afterwards. Well I came across an article about wearing gloves and a face mask in case it becomes airborne. Now I'm nervous about doing it but my husband hates the cat and already works 15-18 hours a day 6 days a week. (He has two jobs.) Should I be okay to change the litter box if I use gloves and face mask or should my husband just do it?
