3 cases newborn sized diapers (84 count) too much?

Question

One of my girlfriends has told me I have way too many diapers in newborn size?  I’ve been buying them when they’re on sale.  But if I guesstimate for an 8lb baby at birth... should be at least 200-300 diapers I need unless he grows way faster??? 
What do you ladies think?
Due in 5 weeks and trying to be prepared in the nursery

We used nb diapers for almost 2 months, id say you have the perfect amount

It depends🤷🏼‍♀️ my daughter was 8lb6oz at birth, she was in NB diapers for a week only. We didn’t even get a chance to use 1 whole pack.

Maybe 1 or 2 cases too many. Honestly, some people skip newborn and just roll down size ones since baby will be in them longer. I've done that with 2 of my 3 babies but I do love that most newborn diapers have the special cut out though for the umbilical cord stump so I did get a case of newborns this time.

My son was 5 lbs and was in newborns until he was 5.5 weeks old. Probably could have had him in them longer but I made the choice to move him up

I used about three and a half cases of newborn.  Did not think I would use that many.  Haha.

We only used 2 cases of newborn diapers (around 180 total) and my daughter was 7lbs 10oz at birth

I only went through a small package of newborn diapers before she outgrew them. She was 8 lbs 1 oz at birth. At six months she has been in size four for over a month. I did the same with buying whenever I saw some on sale and estimated sizes (lots of charts on Pinterest). I have had to size up so many!

I used less than one box of newborn nappies because my boy was born big. What you have sounds about right.
