Health: lactose intolerance, but animals are an extremely close second lol

I went vegan for my health as I had acne, horrible periods and would end up in hospital, a lot of muscle pain; especially in my back, my skin wasn’t great, I was over weight, had an eating disorder, insomnia, depression and anxiety, you know, a few different things. 
About 4-5 years ago there wasn’t as much choice as there is today and I was struggling a little, I was also pretty lazy and couldn’t be bothered to cook much to try new recipes so I was a bit bored to be honest. As I stayed on the vegan lifestyle though, I started to like it more and more and just felt like my taste buds were adapting. 
To help me through, I educated myself on not just my health but the animals and planet as well. 
How am I today? Acne cleared up, skin got better, hardly any period pain, my back is better then ever, I lost weight, eating disorders a lot better as I pretty much don’t restrict myself anymore, I sleep much better, I’m no where near upset as I used to be, still anxious but hey I’m getting there, and I’m sure there would be even more good changes!
These days we have so much vegan variety! 
To sum it up. 
Went vegan for myself. 
Stayed vegan for the animals and the earth. 🌱

I finally made the switch when I realized it didn’t align with my feminism. Once I learned about the “rape machines” and whole process of obtaining milk/ripping apart families to make baby girl cows into milk-makers and baby boy cows into veal, I was done.

As I got older I just stopped liking meat so I went vegetarian in 7th grade and years later I told myself there was no reason why I couldn't give up dairy so I cut it out of my diet and I've been vegan every since.

I ignored my instinct of desiring to be vegetarian my whole life because of societal influence, but in the new year of 2018 I saw a picture of a protest sign that pointed out the paradox of “humane” slaughter and it stunned me. It finally clicked. I stopped eating meat that day, and a few months later went vegan after going further down the rabbit hole. Now the reasons for this lifestyle seems endless!

I think I have a somewhat unpopular opinion among most vegan people because the only reason I’m vegan now is because I’m not able to raise and butcher my own meat. When I’m able to raise my animals and butcher them for food, I will no longer be vegan! I believe animals are meant to be consumed by us, just like they consume their food, etc. Circle of life. But I don’t think it’s right that they are being mistreated in order for us to eat them. I think people need to respect animals more, and appreciate them for the sustenance they provide us!

I started just to see if it would help me feel healthier lose weight etc and because my sister is a hardcore vegan. BUT I kept it up for the animals ♥️
