Should I give up $200,000 annual salary for stay at home for one year?

I will loose my current job and $200,000 income for a year, it’s a job I really really enjoy.

There are so many factors here in determining whether this would be the right decision for you. Would it be a big financial hit for your family to not have that income? Are your skill sets such that you can easily step back into a comparable role after a year or might the absence set you back professionally? I mean, I probably wouldn't, personally  unless I:
Had an emergency fund of 6-12 months worth of all expenses 
Had a regular savings account with probably a similar amount in it
Had all my debt paid off
Had my mortgage paid off
Had a retirement account with at least 3-5 years worth of wages in it.
But that's me..🤷🏽‍♀️

Why SAHM for only one year? Your post alone suggests you dont even want to. Do what you think would make you happier. Money isn't everything and if it is after a new born, you my decide last minute to enjoy that first year with your child. Good luck.

I wouldn’t. Not just because that’s a huge salary, but because it’s a position you greatly enjoy and may not get again. I make 1/4 of that, but I enjoy where I work and wouldn’t likely get my position back for many years (if ever) if I leave.

You’d regret that horribly later on in life. Yes being a sahm is great but the education your child will receive the first year of live at a good daycare with that kind of income is incomparable.
