Pumping While Breastfeeding?

FTM and my LO is 5 week. She is EBF - but I am wanting to pump to build up a supply for when I have to go back to work in a few weeks.
Any advice on pumping while breastfeeding? Any schedule to follow? Will I run the risk of engorgement?

I am struggling really hard to pump while EBF because baby eats so often that I don’t get much milk....if I pump during her long nap I get my best output which is usually 2oz. I love the Haakaa silicone pump I try to use that a few times a day too and get another couple ounces. I’d say get started as soon as you can because it takes time to build a stash. If you’re regularly bf you probably won’t get engorged. I started pumping a stash at 4 weeks and we’re at 6 weeks now and I’ve saved about 30oz. Drink tons of water and stay well fed!! Essentially any milk you pump outside of EBF  is “extra” so you’re telling your body you need more milk

Best advice I got was to pump first thing in the morning and right before bed. When I first started, I would nurse and once she was full, I’d pump the rest. Once I had enough pumped for a bottle, I’d replace her feed in the morning with a bottle and just pump. My LO is 12.5 weeks old and following this schedule from about 4-5 weeks, I’ve built up a supply of over 400 ounces!!
I also recommend the upspring Milk Flow supplements. I started with the chocolate shake once a day and then switched to the capsules (2 capsules, once a day)

I pumped every morning after a feed. Usually between 9 and 10ish. I also woke up (and still do) to pump in the middle of the night when baby sleeps her longest chunk of time. Good luck!
