False labor help

How long were you in false labor before things really kicked in? This is my second baby and I've had monitored consistent contractions every 3-6 min for almost the last 24 hours. They gave me medicine to sleep but awoke 3 hours later by painful contractions. I'm so desperate to stop these or to just get things going. I'm 70% effaced and 1.5 cm dilated

Please help! When do things usually speed up?
