Deciding on infant seat??

FTM need some help deciding on a car seat.  Me and the hubby really want the Doona one that turns into the stroller.  But i also don’t want the baby to grow out of it in a couple of months.  What does everybody recommend??

I personally wouldn’t recommend the Doona. It looks cool, but it’s not practical. First of all it’s much heavier than a normal infant seat, so it kind of defeats the purpose of having a convenient carrier. The Doona is over 16lbs vs the Nuna Pipa Lite, which is around 5lbs... it doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you add a baby to that weight it quickly gets too heavy to manage. I loved having a lightweight car seat to bring in to my postpartum doctor appointments without dealing with a whole stroller, and it was also convenient for taking to dinner and setting on the chair next to me since most nice restaurants won’t let you take the stroller to your table. 
I recommend finding a nice stroller that will last a long time, then getting an infant seat that will click into it when necessary. I’m happy with my Nuna Mixx2, but the Uppababy Vista is another good one, or the Baby Jogger City Mini Gt if you want one that’s a bit more reasonably priced with a smaller fold. As far as car seats, the best one on the market is the Nuna Pipa Lite Lx, but if you want a cheaper option you can look at Maxi Cosi or Britax. Cybex and Uppababy also make good infant seats.

Remember that it’s not recommended for babies to sit in a car seat for longer than 60-90minutes at the time. As the angle are no good for babies back. And car seats isn’t recommended for sleeping at all(yes, babies will fall asleep in the car, but it should never been used for a place to sleep). And what do you do if your baby is one of them who hates the car seat? 
We had a Cybex aton q infant seat, and a stroller with a carrycot/bassinet. And really only used the car seat in the car(baby had a period where he hated the car seat) and the carrycot/bassinet for when shopping/walking/visiting friends.

We had the Chicco Key fit 30 seat, and the Chicco Viaro stroller. I loved it! We couldn’t live without the infant seat. We are now in a convertible one seat, still using and loving the Viaro stroller.

I would get a more financially friendly choice. One that's a stroller with an infant carseat snap in option. So even when baby outgrows the infant carseat you can still use the stroller. We got a graco fastaction. Reasonably priced.  Hope this helped.

I’ve seen babies use the Doona for 9-12 months and even longer. If you plan to have multiple kids it may be a good investment. If not then you can look at cheaper travel systems but the Doona is so convenient. I currently have the Nuna Pipa Lite with the Nuna Mixx 2 stroller. Pricier but it’s held up well and is being used for my daughter as well. I’ve heard good thinks about the brand Graco, too.

The doona seems cool and all but what happens when you spend all the money just to buy another one very soon?

This is the one I bought and I understand that the baby will outgrow the carseat just like the doona, it works the same (I dont have to take baby out of the carseat -which is why I think people like the doona?) but I can still use the stroller when he's bigger. I already bought a convertible carseat on a black Friday sale for when he gets bigger
