Discrimination at work due to pregnancy?

I am just wondering how many of you have noticed a change in your employers behavior since revealing your pregnancy? I ask bc I am frustrated at the moment. I have two job roles where I work at. I had no experience in one of the positions when I first started, but have been doing it well for 1.5 years. We work on projects that can last a couple months to a year. Since telling my boss I was pregnant, he has been trying to give all my projects to another coworker and have me as back up. Im not due for another 5 months. Additionally, he has been saying one of my roles would be easy to hire for. Am I not crazy to think he is doing his too far in advance? I feel discrimanated against. I feel like my job is going to be redundant when I try to come back from leave. Anybody else feel this way?

Well they have to make sure that someone can do your job while you’re gone on maternity leave...can’t blame them for taking this time to make sure that work will still be completed even when you’re gone

If the jobs can last a couple months to a year, I think it's fair that they delegate certain projects to people that they know will be there to see the whole thing through. I would say it's not a problem unless they aren't giving you any work at all or your pay is based on commission.

Not so much from my boss, but my coworkers act as if its a huge inconvenience for them because I’ll be on maternity leave during “prime vacation time” (April/May/June) and they’ll feel guilty taking their vacation when we’re already understaffed 🙄

It’s the opposite for me, they’ve been supportive...and it’s three of us in my group so we always help each other out, although we each work independently and our work load is not going to suffer if either takes a few months off.

I dont think hes doing it maliciously, but I would encourage him to give you a heavier work load. let him know you can still mange tasks for now, and that it may or may not change in the later months. as far as when you return, its all speculation. you could concieve 100s of scenarios, so might as well not be bothered by that right now.

I worked somewhere for 8 years and always had great evaluations. Once I had kids, all of a sudden I got poor evaluations on subjective things, even though my work was the same and documented. I then heard they were trying to get me to resign. I get what you mean.

My friend delivered at 24 weeks and I am potentially delivering at 30 weeks (admitted since Friday). It’s not too early for him to think about

No if your projects can take that long then you should also be helping with your contingency plan for while you are gone listing all your duties and who on your team
Will able to do what. This is a very common and smart business practice. You are reading this the wrong way.
