When will the dreams stop?

So I was in a relationship with this guy... He seemed great till he got drunk one night and pushed me on the ground...then it got worse. He begin cheated and when I found out he threw me on the ground and started chocking me. Then he would graph my wrist and leave bruises...and he would try and break my fingers. On top of all that he would constantly call me fat and call me a bitch. I finally got out of that relationship and now I have this amazing guy who would never hurt me. However I keep getting dreams about my ex trying to kill me. It's almost been a year. When will the dreams stop.
