Birth control

Hey so I’ve been on birth control for awhile now and I’ve been spotting like brownish red ovulation I guess you would say. I haven’t been active In a good while (months). I know I did miss a couple pills and had to take two. I was also getting fingered one day and I believe there nails were a bit long. Did I mess up my cycle or could I just be releasing the blood from a scratched area? Please someone give me advice
