Are people born evil or is it learned?

And is anyone truly evil? Perhaps their ‘evil’ actions are justified in their own minds - so maybe there is no such thing is a ‘bad person’.  And what is considered an evil act?

there is no such thing as a bad or evil person. Everything is about perspective and people‘s interpretation of what good is. everyone is just their own special cocktail of brokenness and learned behaviors.

"Evil" can be defined in many ways, but if we are referring to a person who does things like hurt/kill others, molest children, etc, those things are all biopsychosocial. There's a biological component (genetics), a psychological component (mental illness), and a social component (learned behavior). It's almost never just one.

I think some people are just born evil. Elizabeth Bathory was pretty fucked up even as a child. A common serial killer trait is torturing small animals at a young age. They're even mentally wired differently than the average brain.

Babies aren’t born evil.  I think a combination of things (genetic predisposition to certain traits, abuse and or brain injury or underdevelopment of certain areas of the brain) can lead to a person demonstrating evil behaviour.  I define evil as having little to no empathy and a lack of inhibitions regulating behaviours that may cause harm to other life.  I think with it comes the want for power and control.  It’s the opposite of love, kindness and compassion.

There’s a great documentary on Netflix called Inside The Criminal Mind. First episode is about murder, and particularly studies how nature vs. nurture (born with it vs. taught it) both potentially play a part in creating the perfect storm of “evil”. Check it out. It has some great new research included that really gives a lot of insight into the how and why.

I think it depends, Jeffrey Dahmer had a  great life at home and parents who did everything for him. He even said in his documentary that he had an amazing life.... some people just like being evil and hurting others. I don’t think it’s always taught.

It depends, many murderers, rapists etc. Meet diagnostic criteria for Antisocial Personality disorder (basically incapable of empathy, guilt etc.) So they are mentally unstable. But, other times evil is taught. All depends on the person and situation. In most cases they are mentally ill.

Its impossible to even determine that. Reason being is that some people can make a decision that people will think is   evil. 
For example, when my dad got together with my step mom I feel that he changed. Which would mean he is learning the evil behavior. I say this because he has made decisions since meeting her that he never made before. 
It's all in your perspective, theres no real answer.

It’s the whole nature/nurture argument, I think it’s a bit of both some are truly evil ( psychopaths etc) and some they get it from the surroundings or situations
