How much does your 4 week old eat?

My baby is formula fed and during the day she can eat almost 3.5 ounces, but at night it’s more like 2.5 because she falls asleep while feeding. Is this okay? 
When I look it up, it says 4 week olds eat 4 ounces! She feeds every 2-3 hours. She’s wetting tons of diapers per day and poops 1-3 times per day. She’s on the smaller size, she’s about 8 pounds (maybe a little more) right now!

My little guy will be 4 weeks on Saturday, and he’s been eating 4oz at a time for a little while now. But he also sleeps for 3-6 hour stretches in between eating, so that’s probably partly why. It sounds to me like your little one is doing just fine.

My daughter is about the same she eats  at least 3 ounces and sometimes she eats just 2 and still is fine

I’ve always heard that they should be eating 1 oz for every hour regardless of age. So if they eat every 2-3 hours they should be eating 2-3 oz each time.

Sounds good. My son varies between 2-3 oz per feed every 3 hours. He’s a night owl and decides to eat more at night. He’ll be 4 weeks tomorrow

I’m breastfeeding, so it’s hard to tell what to bottle feed my lo. When I asked the pedi how much I should be giving her, she told me all babies are different and as long as your baby seems content after feeding and is wetting/messing enough diapers (like you said) I wouldn’t worry. Unless there’s a weight issue at your next  appointment that they seem concerned about, I’d stick with what seems to be making baby happy. I’m sure as she grows, you’ll know when she wants more. But again, I’ve never formula fed so I may be way off base here!
