Tax question

So my husband and I have very simple tax returns every year. Well this year I didn’t work so I have no W2. My husband and I planned to just let him file since he’s military. So we planned for him to file Head of household and claim our son and I as dependents. Does that sound like the correct way to file? Also, since I’m not doing taxes should I keep a second set for myself in case we get audited? Bc I have all of my old tax returns filed away and since I won’t file this year that will be my tax return as well right? Idk if I’m making sense or not. Since he’s claiming me that means I don’t have to file for myself since he’s doing it with his taxes? Any advice is appreciated because I have no clue what we are doing but don’t think paying a tax preparer would be worth the $300+ for such simple taxes. We owe our vehicles out right, and rent but get BAH. We don’t own a house or land or anything.
