Period (tmi)

To start I'm anemic I'm 24 have 2 children both 4. I'm on cycle day 4 my period usually last  about 6-7 days. (Tmi) I have been bleeding through both super plus tampons and super pads in less then a hour. I am wearing both at the same time and I'm still bleeding through both. I am setting up an apt for my Obgyn for Monday but the receptionist told me it's normal?!?!?!? Does anyone else suffer from extreamly heavy periods? I don't think this is normal. I can't even have a relaxing day with my family and babies :( I'm constantly in the bathroom or shower. Changing pad and tampon or washing my self and my clothes. Plz help any advice
