Do I need a baby blanket ?

Can I just use a small blanket that I already have? 
Also what are the rules with covering up babies? Is it okay to cover them up or do I need to wait til a certain age?

They say to wait until 1 year old but I know some people who have gave their baby one sooner and it worked for them. Personally I’m too scared to try giving mine a blanket before a year old and he doesn’t have an issue sleeping without one and I think that’s because we have never given him one so he doesn’t know what he’s missing yet lol. But you don’t need a baby blanket as long as it’s not huge and thick. It needs to be thinner cotton and smaller.

They can have a blanket as long as they are supervised closely. If you’re taking about unsupervised, you can just have the baby wear warmer clothes.

Blankets are not recommended until age 1. Sleep sacks are perfect before then.

Cellular blankets or recommended. Swaddling is no longer recommended. Nor is sleeping bags until they reach the weight limit as they can slide down them.
