Did anyone have a lot of fear going into IVF?

I’m not scared of the needles or surgery. I am terrified that no embryos are going to fertilize or that we won’t have any embryos in general. I start meds on 2/16. I feel really depressed (or it’s the birth control) and i have to snap out of It. I’m 29, unexplained infertility, conceived naturally 7 years ago, doctor is not recommending ICSI since my husbands sperm is great, good AMF and follicle count at baseline was 16-26. I am really looking for some advice or guidance.

I was there last month. We are both 28 with unexplained infertility. I have had 2 missed miscarriages (blighted ovums) one with clomid and one with IUI. We had 28 eggs retrieved 18 mature. 14 fertilized and 11 were frozen. We did PGS and just found out we have 10 normal embryos. We get to transfer soon and are trying to decide how many to transfer. I have my fingers crossed for you for good numbers! It’s easier said than done but try not to worry too much!

Our situations are very similar! I had a lot of fear, especially while doing the injections. "Is this even going to be worth it" kind of stuff. After 2 years and 3 iui failures it's hard to imagine success, especially when we don't have an explanation! I just tried to take deep breaths every time those thoughts crept in. It made me nervous too that my stress levels would affect my eggs, but I had my retrieval this past Saturday and they got 18 eggs, 11 mature, and 8 fertilized!! I was so overjoyed when I got the call this morning. Now I'm nervous about how many will make it to say 5, but at least my emotions will not affect them at this point! The depression has been really hard on me, and I don't have a good answer aside from just keep on trucking and keep your eye on the prize 😊

I was TERRIFIED the whole time! You are def not alone. But each step of the way ended up being a huge success. Just breathe, find ways to distract your mind (I did a million jigsaw puzzles!), and if you’re a spiritual person give it all to God! I’m now 18 weeks pregnant with twins, and have 6 embryos in cryo. You got this!!!

Sending you hugs babe!!! I had so much fear and anxiety starting the ivf process. I made it through the retrieval and am in my FET cycle now and am still so worried but am trying to think positively. We have unexplained infertility and have never been on birth control and never pregnant. It is always in the back of my mind that it won’t happen for us but I am hoping that maybe we just need a little help to make it happen! I think feeling a little anxiety is perfectly normal in this situation! There is a ton of what if’s and unknowns, so many variables out of our control that it is natural to feel overwhelmed. I am trying to stay positive and am hoping like heck everything will work itself out!!! I am sending you good thoughts and positive energy!!!!💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

I don’t want to scare you more but the big thing I learned is to speak up for yourself and ask questions. I had my first cycle last month and I ended up ovulating right before ER. Ended up with 1 egg. It’s currently a 5 day blast and we are transferring it this month and if it fails my doctor is giving me a free 2nd round - the least she can do since she missed my surgery by over an hour! Resulting in the loss of probably 15-20 eggs.

My only fear was that it wasn’t going to work. But something to remember: Whatever is going to happen is going to happen as it is supposed to. Letting go and just letting the cycle run its course was the best thing I could do. The process is much easier than I ever expected. Just stay hydrated! Lots of g2.

I'm 32, fertility issues due to the stage 4 endo I had removed in may 2018. We went straight to IVF. First retrieval we had 0 Viable embryos because I was overstimmed and it was completely devastating. We did another retrieval 3 months later and ended up with only 2 embryos out of 10 eggs, 8 fertilized and 2 made it to day 5. We put both in and I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant with twins. They both stuck. It's a completely mentally emotionally and physically draining process but keep your head up and good luck 🤞
